WSDAN Progress: WSDAN Roadshow

On 10 December 2009, WSDAN hosted its fifth event in the current series at the Park Inn, Manchester.

The event included a status update from the WSD programme (1878 kb) and a review of some new case studies (1181 kb) .

Professor Stan Newman and Anna Davies, from University College London, provided an important presentation on the evaluation of telecare and telehealth (335 kb) , which will be of interest to many local authorities and primary care trusts looking at outcomes from their own programmes. They provided an understanding of what makes a good-quality evaluation and looked at different methods. They presented a hierarchy of evidence, from expert opinion to systematic reviews of previous trials. They also considered the value of qualitative evaluations and the importance of planning, and they reviewed a number of the practical issues to consider when carrying out an evaluation.

In addition, there were presentations on integrating care with telehealth(1821 kb) , the NHS Technology Adoption Centre(1031 kb) , the Assisted Living Innovation Platform Knowledge Transfer(246 kb) , Commissioning Telecare and Telehealth (4138 kb) , and overview of progress in England (1940 kb) .
